You may be allowed to have some treatments on repeat prescription without seeing the doctor.
You can order your medication in several different ways:
- Order your repeat prescription online via the NHS App or SytmOnline.
- Email your request to email@example.com; you must ensure that you give your full name, date of birth & address details along with details of the medication you wish to order.
- Complete the repeat slip and post it in to the postbox outside the Surgery door.
- Ring the prescription desk on the dedicated line: 01623 435555 option 4
Once processed your medication request will be despatched electronically to your nominated Pharmacy preventing the need for you to attend the Surgery. Please allow 48-36 hours before collecting from your nominated Pharmacy.
Please be aware that medication which may be bought over the counter is not prescribed by a Clinician. Please see the Self-Care Guide or speak to a Pharmacist if you need advice.
Repeat prescriptions can only be issued if they have been authorised by the doctor. Your medications will be reviewed regularly to ensure you continue to get appropriate care. If you take the pill or HRT, you will need to see the doctor before your prescription can be issued.
Electronic Prescription Services (EPS)
EPS have been available since 2005. This is a free service and is just another way of prescriptions being sent to pharmacy.
What is Electronic Prescription service? If you have regular prescriptions the Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) may be able to save you time by avoiding unnecessary trips to your GP.
The Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) allows your prescription to be sent electronically from your GP surgery to a nominated pharmacy of your choice.
How to sign up?
Electronic Repeat Dispensing (eRD)
Electronic repeat dispensing (eRD) is a process that allows patients to obtain repeated supplies of their medication without the need for the prescriber to hand sign authorised repeat prescriptions each time. This allows the GP to authorise and issue a batch of repeat prescriptions until the patients’ medication needs to be reviewed. The prescriptions are then available at specified intervals and your nominated pharmacy can download and dispense.
The first issue of an electronic repeat dispensing prescription is downloaded from the NHS spine in the same way as other EPS prescriptions. Community Pharmacy will ask you a set of 4 questions at the point of collecting your prescription.
This process is repeated 6 times or until all prescriptions have been dispensed; At this point an appointment will be required for routine medication review, bloods or blood pressure reading at your GP surgery.
Online services are available to assist you in accessing services at the Surgery remotely and at your convenience.
